Jammu, June 28: Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, who also hold the charge of District Vigilance Officer, has ordered enquiry into the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 22 lakhs by two Sarpanchs in nexus with Panchayat Secretary.
As per the details available with Early Times, ADC Doda vide letter No. DVO/D/Vigilance/2020/44 Dated 16-6-2020 while initiating the inquiry wherein people requested for the strict action against Sarpanch of Panchayat Bharath-A and Bharath-B and Secretary Panchayat for the funds amounting to approximately Rs. 22 Lakh under 14th FC, withdraw illegal without approval of works by the competent authority and also without following the proper procedure of payments under than 14th FC issued by the government seeks the appearance of Secretary Panchayat along with the record in his office on 19-6-2020, but surprisingly neither Panchayat Secretary nor the Sarpanchs appeared for the inquiry. Following non-appearance of the Panchayat Secretary, ADC Doda in another communication vide letter No. DVO/D/Vigilance/2020/56 dated 25-6-2020 once again ask the BDO Dali Udhyanpur to direct Panchayat Secretary and Sarpanchs to appear in the office of ADC Doda along with record on 30-6-2020 for further course of inquiry into the matter.
Speaking to Early Times, ADC Doda Kishori Lal Sharma confirmed about the inquiry initiated against the Panchayat Secretary and Sarpanchs for misuse of powers and fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 22 Lakh against non-approved works.
He said that Panchayat Secretary has already been placed under suspension and added that beside departmental action, FIR could be registered against all the three accused persons if found guilty.
In a question on action against Sarpanchs, ADC Doda Kishori Lal Sharma said that if found guilty, both the Sarpanchs could be dismissed from the post of Sarpanch.
In a question on rampant reports of corruption by PRIs in 14th FC, including favouritism- ADC Doda said that people should come forward with genuine complaints and proofs, the government will initiate action against such PRIs.
