People violating Covid safety guidelines in valley,Enforcement of restrictions in containment zones necessary, say officials | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 14: The top officials here in the Divisional administration Kashmir said that strict enforcement of restrictions in containment zones to contain the spread of COVID19 is necessary in the Kashmir valley. “All decisions and directions issued are in public interest. It was also observed that people are violating safety guidelines. We appeal to people to follow directions and safety guidelines for their own good,”one of the top officials wished not to be be named early. The district administration Srinagar had completely sealed the containment zones to stop the spread of the deadly virus. “People are not adhering guidelines properly. After analysing the situation of the last two weeks we found that it is alarming in the Srinagar city and the spread pattern is disturbing,” the officials had said. The official said that there are clear directions to the police to ensure the restrictions in red zones as per SOP. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said that containment zone restrictions have been in place as per SOP. “Whenever containment/ red zone declared such areas are prohibited for movement except essential services. This is an ongoing regular procedure,” he said. The official said that local parks were reopened for public recreation. “It was expected that people would maintain social distancing and other safety guidelines at public parks as was expected at markets. But unfortunately people were not following the safety guidelines properly,” he said while replying to a query. The official said that People need to understand the gravity of the situation and take precautions. “People need to follow the guidelines properly that include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands by using sanitizers and soap frequently,” he said, adding that this was the only way to contain the virus spread,” As far as the government’s role, he said that the government was taking all measures by keeping health set up ready to treat Covid-19 patients. “We are taking measures that include robust testing, collection of samples and ensuring proper quarantine for those who test positive,” the official said.
