Threat of terrorists: J&K BJP leadership failed as two Valley based leaders quit party | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 14: Despite repeated assurances by the leadership, some youth leaders of BJP from Kashmir Valley have started quitting the party due to threats of terrorists. After the recent killings of political leaders, including BJP’s Sheikh Waseem Bari and Congress sarpanch Ajay Pandita, a sense of fear and insecurity has crept up on politicians in the Valley. Three days after Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president from Baramulla, Marouf Bhat, tendered his resignation, another youth leader of BJP Asif Ahmad also resigned from the party on Tuesday. According to reports, BJP's Vice President for Kupwara Asif Ahmad announced on Tuesday, “I am from a well off family. I did not join BJP to make money but to work for my people. But we are not allowed to work by officials. BJP has no value on the ground. Officials are not bothered to listen to us and address issues of people”. Asif’s this statement was issued by a Kashmir based news agency. “I resigned because the authorities are not listening to us. Administration has failed in every manner. We are for the people but if public grievances are not listened to by administration and solved, why will we work with a party like BJP,” he said. Earlier Bhat had resigned through social media and he had stated in a post, “ I hereby resign from the BJYM as a member and any post I held as part of it. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to work for the party,”. “They (militants) are not only targeting us but our families too. We have not been given any security and accommodation in a secured place. Now, our families are at risk,” he said. Important to mention that the high command has asked J&K BJP leaders to boost the morale of the cadre in Kashmir Valley. |
