Dr Farooq Abdullah forced to ‘self-quarantine’ | | |
Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 14: Former Chief Minister and National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah who had been in news for his outings in Kashmir for the last around a fortnight has been advised “not to move around but stay indoors in self-quarantine” in the wake of sudden spike in Covid19 cases. Sources said the advice has come mainly from the medical experts in touch with Dr Abdullah who is kidney transplant patient and also suffers from other ailments. Sources said the experts pressed the panic button after they got to know that Dr Abdullah had personally met his party colleague and senior leader Ali Muhammad Sagar soon after latter’s release from prison. In violation of the laid down protocols it was learnt that Dr Abdullah had even hugged Sagar, who subsequently tested positive for the Covid-19. Sources said the Abdullah family had got worried about Dr Abdullah and that his children at once called medical experts known to them. What was seen as another brazen mistake by Dr Abdullah that he was seen mixing up with people when out of home. “He not only inaugurated an ice-cream parlor in Srinagar but even ate one. That was violation of the social distancing norms,” the sources said. Dr Abdullah had even travelled to south Kashmir to condole demise of a family member of a NC leader and had even mingled with the locals. “When doctors got to know about his movements, they at once asked him to stay home, stay safe,” said a source privy to the Abdullahs. Sources said a team of senior doctors have asked Abdullah not to leave his residence come what may or that things could turn deadly for his health. Sources said given the sudden spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, Dr Abdullah has given up moving out or even meeting guests who would visit his residence. Insiders said the NC leader has gone into “self-quarantine.” Despite repeated attempts Dr Abdullah was not available for comments. |
