JAMMU, July 14: A plantation drive was today held under Greening Jammu at Trial ground of Regional Transport Officer Jammu near SOS Home Channi Himmat. Under Greening Jammu campaign, Institutional plantations are being carried out so that more and more people could be involved in the greening Jammu drive. Regional Transport Officer, Dhanatar Singh started the drive by planting Pongamia Piniata (Sukhchain) plant at central meridian of trial ground. ARTO Jammu, Mohammad Saleem & Inspector, Raj Kundal accompanied the RTO. Over 150 plants of shade bearing trees were planted all over the ground. The plantation drive was held under the guidance of Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests J&K, Dr Mohit Gera, Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu, K. Ramesh Kumar, Conservator of Forests East Circle Jammu, Simuel Chankgjia and Divisional Forest Officer Urban Forestry Division Jammu, Sunil Singh. Speaking on the occasion, the RTO said that the trees are the life line of all the living beings and plantation is the only way to stop the climate change. Range Officer Sunjan, Rakesh Verma said that the plantation drive is being held under the “Greening Jammu” campaign. Block Officer, Kuldeep Raj Verma made all the arrangements with the help of Gulshan Kumar and Tareeq Hussain.
