NADJK urges LG to constitute panel to review SGRE Act | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 14: National Akali Dal, J&K (NADJK) in a core group meeting held at Jammu, unanimously urged upon the Lt. Governor GC Murmu and his administration to formulate a panel of Sikh religious and legal luminaries to review the Sikh Gurudwara and Religious Endowment Act of 1973 as per the Sikh code of conduct and traditions to make it effective, functional and purposeful. The participants in the meeting also appreciated the govt. for providing three months more periods to the outgoing DGPC members to manage Gurudwaras affairs in view of the COVID-19. While expressing views in the meeting Dayal Singh Wazir, President (NAD J&K) former Gen. Secy. DGPC Jammu and JKGPB alongwith Prof. Amrik Singh Sathi and Santokh Singh Komal said that the Gurudwara Act was enacted to provide better, clean, transparent and efficient management to all the Gurudwaras in J&K and also to take care of all the properties and institutions built by Sikh communities donations. He said that Act was meant to preserve the sanctity of sikh shrines and also to implement the sikh code of conduct (Rehat Maryada) in all the Gurudwaras as laid down by Sikh Gurus under the overall guidance and directions of “Shri Akal Takht sahib” the supreme apex body of Sikhism. He said with regret that as observed during all this long period since the enactment of the Act everything went contrary to the aspirations of sikh masses as the code of conduct and traditions were not followed in a proper way. |
