| Mula Ram, Hari Singh resent functioning of toll plaza at Lakhanpur | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 21: Former minister and senior Congress leader Mula Ram and DCC Rural President Hari Singh Chib criticized the BJP Government at the Centre for making the Lakhanpur Toll Plaza operational from today morning.
In a statement issued here today, the former minister said the toll plaza at Lakhanpur will alienate masses at a time when the government is expected to provide some succour to the people who are battling for their survival amid COVID pandemic. He said that paying taxes is no doubt the duty of every citizen but first the J&K Government needs to introspect the fact that people are passing through tough times because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on their economic conditions. He said that a common man who finds it difficult to provide two times meal per day due to COVID-19 pandemic, is finding it difficult to pay such tolls. The Government should find another way for collection of its revenue, he added.
The former minister also criticized that the local commuters are being compelled to pay the toll in these plazas which is unjustified and it is a deliberate attempt to put financial burden on the middle class when the entire world is fighting against pandemic.
