SRINAGAR, July 21: The Corona Virus cases crossed the 15,000 mark in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 608 fresh cases of virus were reported today while as nine more people died in Kashmir in the past 24 hours. Reports said that six deaths took place in Srinagar alone followed by Baramulla two deaths and Kulgam one death. With the fresh deaths the death toll due to COVID-19 reached 263 in Jammu & Kashmir. While 243 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley 20 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division. Reports said that Srinagar reported 213 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Budgam 83 cases, Kupwara 47 cases, Pulwama 43 cases, Kulgam 39 cases, Rajouri 37 cases, Baramulla 28 cases, Anantnag 26 cases, Jammu 15 cases, Bandipora 14 cases, Kathua 13 cases, Ramban 11 cases, Samba 10 cases, Reasi eight cases, Doda seven cases, Ganderbal six cases, Shopian and Udhampur three cases each and Poonch two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 608 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 106 from Jammu division and 502 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 15,258. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 181 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 36 from Jammu Division and 145 from Kashmir Division. Out of 15,258 positive cases, 6,540 are active positive, 8,455 have recovered and 263 have died; 20 in Jammu division and 243 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 28,946 test results available, 5, 13,688 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 36,315 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 38,016 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 11 in hospital quarantine, 6,540 in hospital isolation and 42,779 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 48, 706 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 3,283 positive cases, 1,961 active positive, 1,253 recovered, 69 deaths; Baramulla has 1651 positive cases, 674 active positive, 922 recovered, 55 deaths; Kulgam has 1186 positive cases, 297 active positive, 864 recovered, 25 deaths; Shopian has 1168 positive cases, 365 active positive, 784 recovered, 19 deaths; Anantnag district has 1097 positive cases, 363 active positive, 716 recovered, 18 deaths. “Pulwama has 1,042 positive cases, 494 active positive, 534 recovered, 14 deaths; Kupwara has 965 positive cases, 362 active positive, 588 recovered, 15 deaths; Budgam has 948 positive cases, 449 active positive, 480 recovered, 19 deaths; Bandipora has 478 positive cases, 121 active positive, 352 recovered, five deaths and Ganderbal has 307 positive cases, 177 active positive, 126 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 651 positive cases, 199 active positive, 440 recovered, 12 deaths; Rajouri has 439 positive cases, 318 active positive, 119 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 419 positive cases, 183 active positive, 236 recovered; Kathua has 386 positive cases, 116 active positive, 269 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 367 positive cases, 67 active positive, 299 recovered, one death. “Samba has 340 positive cases, 163 active positive, 176 recovered, one death; Doda has 200 positive cases, 101 active positive, 97 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 155 positive cases, 28 active positive, 126 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 90 positive cases, 61 active positive, 29 recovered and Reasi has 86 positive cases, 41 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 15,258 positive cases 3,536 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
