PDP ‘insults’ Parliament but party’s MPs enjoying all privileges | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 21: Desperate to replace Hurriyat Conference and other Kashmir centric separatist, communal and anti-national groups, PDP leadership is not ready to even spare Parliament of India-the highest temple of democracy in the country. A press statement issued by PDP on Monday is an indication that PDP leadership has no respect for Indian democracy and democratic institutions. “People’s Democratic Party reiterates its stand that August 5, 2019 was the darkest chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The manner in which Parliament of India was misused to betray people of this erstwhile state by abrogating Article 370 and 35 A and downgrading the state into Union Territory shall always be a blot on the highest democratic institution”, reads an official statement issued on Monday from Jammu. The word blot on ‘the highest democratic institution’ is nothing but an insult to the highest temple of democracy in India. Instead of taking action against its own Members of Parliament, PDP leadership is demonizing Indian Parliament which reflects the party's mindset. Despite reservation by some parties on the decision of the BJP led NDA government to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A, none of the leaders of opposition parties have insulted the Parliament. They criticized the BJP government but not the institutions. After Parliament passed the resolution to abrogate Article 370 and 35-A, PDP leadership had asked its Rajya Members to quit as MPs but they refused. Almost a year has passed but both the PDP Rajya Sabha members have been enjoying all privileges as Rajya Sabha members. Instead of convincing its MPs to resign, PDP leadership is insulting Parliament. |
