Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 28: Crime Branch Jammu today booked a Patwari (revenue official) for manipulating official records for relatives.
According to press release the Crime Branch Jammu has registered a formal criminal case against accused- Abdul Manan Malik and the then Patwari Samote, Arshad Iqbal Malik for fabricating fake PRC to claim residential proof, as belonging to Gundi in order to get the benefit of entitlement and seek a Govt. job to which the accused otherwise was not eligible, owing to his actual residential status at other place. The PRC was procured by the accused after hatching criminal conspiracy with the said Patwari who manipulated the Revenue record by way of forgery and enabled him procure a fake PRC to cheat the Government establishments for his personal gain while causing corresponding loss to the deserving candidates of village Gundi.
The case owes it origin to a communication received by Crime Branch from Police Headquarters J&K which reveals that complainant Pardeep Singh resident of Gundi, Tehsil Khawas, District Rajouri, lodged a written complaint with SSP Vigilance Rajouri-Poonch Range, alleging therein that one post of RET was published in which the accused Abdul Manan Malik, who was not a resident of village Gundi but was a permanent inhabitant of Village Samote, filed his application for obtaining PRC from village Gundi and applied for the post. Complainant further alleged that the said PRC was issued in connivance with the Revenue officials in which the accused Arshad Iqbal Malik, the then Patwari Samote who being the close relative of the Abdul Manan Malik played a vital role. The said Arshad Iqbal Malik made a wrong entry in the Revenue record and Ration Card of the accused Abdul Manan to enable him procure a fake PRC for facilitating him to get undue benefits thereof.
On the basis of complaint from the public of village Gundi that wrong PRC has been issued in favour of accused Abdul Manan, the office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue initiated enquiry and verification was got done through Tehsildar Koteranka who reported that the said accused Abdul Manan is a resident of village Samote and his file was processed and recommended to Addl. Deputy commissioner to Rajouri, for issuance of PRC for village Gundi. Subsequently Assistant Commissioner Revenue Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh Jamwal established in enquiry that the said accused is resident of village Samote and not of village Gundi and therefore if at all PRC is issued in his favour from the Village Gundi the same may be treated as illegal. In order to conduct an in-depth probe into the allegations a formal criminal case U/S 420,465,467,468,120-B IPC & Sec 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 is registered in Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu against the above mentioned accused persons.
