Former PDP minister’s daughter approaches Govt for registration of ‘social group’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 28: The daughter of a former minister who is also a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party has approached the government of Jammu and Kashmir to get a “social group” registered. Sources said the said woman, who is also a lawyer, wants to start the so called social group in league with some other like-minded women from Kashmir. Sources said the government has received a formal application from the group of women including the daughter of the PDP leader. Sources said the application has been received by the office of Registrar in Srinagar. A senior official told Early Times that the application was being processed. “Our job is to issue registration for social causes and we have received their formal application in this regard but we don’t know if any of the applicants is his (PDP leader’s) daughter,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. It is pertinent to mention that the said leader was recently released from detention under the Public Safety Act. The PDP leader who was also a government official before joining the party has been known for his allegedly anti-India remarks from time to time. He is seen as a close aide of the Mufti family. Sources said his daughter is interested in social activism and thus wants to start a group on this front. “She has long been interested in social activism and thus may be she wants to give it a formal banner and who knows it will be an extension of the politics,” said a source in PDP privy to the development. Despite repeated attempts the said daughter of the PDP leader was not available for comments. Meanwhile a senior official that such group even if given permission could not be used for political activities. “It has to be social group and will have to work only for betterment of the society,” he said. |
