Doctor sends legal notice to DC Udhampur, CMO | Demands home quarantine facility for her elderly parents | | Ashwani Sharma
Early Times Report
Udhampur, Aug 28: After her elderly parents tested positive for COVID-19 and were sent to administrative quarantine, a lady doctor has sent a legal notice to DC Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Udhampur demanding that the elderly couple should be kept in home quarantine. To support her argument the doctor has quoted SOPs issued by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. “On August 21, 2020 the elderly couple was shifted to COVID care centre at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu even though the infected couple was above 70 years of age,” the notice stated. It said, “Both the patients are in advance age and are very weak and need assistance in their day-to-day needs like having food, moving to washroom/toilet and both were suffering from co-morbid condition,” it states. When contacted the CMO said I have received notice but J&K guidelines don't allow home quarantine in Jammu province. In a related development the J&K government today ordered that asymptomatic patients should be kept in home quarantine. |
