Jammu, Aug 28: Government Degree College Vijaypur organized an online international level book review competition. The competition was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, father of Library Sciences of India which is celebrated on 12th August every year. The competition opened on the same day this year and the last day for entries submission was 26th August. The objective of the competition was to create an atmosphere where literature is to be read and promoted through articles, book reviews and literary journals. Students, Academicians, Scholars and Researchers from within and outside the country participated in the competition with a lot of enthusiasm and vigour. The reviews included various literary books of different genres, autobiographies and biographies of eminent personalities of the world, thrillers, classics, memoirs, motivational books and the ones related to science and technology. The first position was shared by Sharmila Jajodia, Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar Mumbai, Maharashtra and Saheli Ghosh, Loreto College, Kolkota, West Bengal. The second position was shared by Dr. Shikha Jain, Rajasthan University; Pawandeep Tiwana, Centennial College, Ontario, Canada and Melosha Auroliana Gomes, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Goa whereas the third position was secured by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Post Doctoral Fellow, Mokpo National University, Jeonnam, Republic of Korea. Consolation was bagged by Aman Kumar, Govt. MAM College, Jammu. The competition was adjudged by Dr. Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary, BOSE, UT of J&K; Dr. Kamni, Sr. Assistant Professor, SMVD University and Dr. Dinesh Jamwal, Assistant Professor, GCW Parade. E-Certificates were awarded to the winners of the competition. Dr. Uday Pathania executed the event under the guidance of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the Institute who while appreciating the initiative of the organizers urged all to inculcate the habit of reading in their lives as it has immense benefits and is one of the most fundamental skills our coming generations need to learn and develop to succeed in every sphere of life. |
