DDC Kathua reviews implementation of district environment plan | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 28: District Development Commissioner, Om Parkash Bhagat today reviewed the implementation of District environment Plan and guidelines of National Green Tribunal (NGT) for solid waste management and restoration of water bodies, here at a meeting. The DDC said that that District environment action plan aims at improving the parameters of the environment in the district including solid waste management, bio-medical waste management industrial pollution control, conservation of water bodies, prevention of illegal sand mining, measures to curb use of polythene and plastic , spreading mass awareness, community participation , water conservation, checking air and water pollution and redresssal of grievances. Directions were passed to Chief medical Officer to follow the norms and guidelines of National Green Tribunal (NGT) for bio waste management. He directed the authorities to keep a check on the private hospitals and clinics for implementation the Bio medical waste management plan. The Pollution Control Department was asked for conducting random inspection of industrials units to check that the waste from the units is released after propoer treatment. The DDC sought action taken report from Assistant commissioner Development and Soil Conservation Department regarding the preservation of water bodies / ponds. The ICDS was directed to aware the people through anganwari workers about the proper segregation of solid waste in the houses. The Municipal bodies were asked for door to door collection of the wastes in their jurisdiction its proper segregation. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atul Gupta; Assistant Commissioner (Dev.), Narayan Dutt; Assistant Commissioner(Revenue), Joginder Pal; besides others.
