JKOPA castigates UT administration | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 28: J&K Offset Printers’ Association (JKOPA) resolved to bring into the notice of Manoj Sinha Ji Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir UT, about the hardships being faced by the local Printing Industry in Jammu region. In an emergency office bearers meeting held by J&K Offset Printers’ Association (JKOPA) under the Presidentship of Sudesh Kumar Gupta informed that various representations were made to the Govt. but nothing have been done for the survival of printing industry. All of us are educated youth and are self-employed by getting loan from Banks & other Financial Institutions, we also involve our next generation in this Industry. The J&K (UT) Govt. is not interested to safeguard the interests of our local Printers’, even the Govt. of India initiated many schemes like Make in India, Support & Outreach and Ease of Doing Business but these won’t help our Printing Industry in Jammu & Kashmir (UT) since the Govt. is not paying any attention to this Industry, they said. Last year Finance Deptt., Civil Sect J&K had issued a order for Govt. Deptt. to get their jobs Executed by the Govt. Press, vide order No. A/B (2007)-159 Dt. 21/2/2019 whereas the rates of Govt. Press are very high & quality is poor as compared to the private sector, but due to the vested interests, all the work is being done from there thus depriving local Printers’ of their livelihood. As per latest Govt. instructions all the Department were required to get “Coffee Table Books” containing mention of Developments done by them in their respective fields. In this connection it has been gathered that most of the departments got the “Coffee Table Books” printed from Non Printers’ ignoring the local Printers’ and that too from some vendors who are not registered Printers’ themselves without any tenders. During the COVID-19 pandemic most of the small printers had to keep their units closed in lockdown. They have suffered a lot due to lockdown and many are facing financial crises facing a virtual closure. Therefore we request our J&K Govt. to compensate our Printing Industry as soon as possible. We humbly request through Print Media His Excellency Lt. Governor Jammu & Kashmir UT to very kindly order the Govt. Departments, Corporations and PSU to get their printing job done from the local Printers’ also instead of Non Printers’ & outside the state, and safeguard the interests of local Printing Industry, the press release reads. |
