JU organizes online poetry recitation competition

Jammu, Au 28: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in an effort to kindle the poetic flair among the students during the times of Corona pandemic organized an online poetry recitation competition for the students of its affiliated colleges, offsite campuses and the Departments of the University of Jammu. The students enthusiastically participated in the online competition as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The participants chose a variety of topics for their recitation.
The participants from all the colleges, especially the colleges of the remote areas, offsite campuses and the Departments overwhelmingly participated in the online competition for which the entries were open till August 25, 2020. Students were judged on the parameters like Relevance of Content and presentation. The First prize was won by Asmita Sawhney from The Department of English, JU. Requive Malik, a pass out student from Bhargava College of Education and Technology got the Second prize and the Third position was secured by Mumtaz Ahmad from GDC Rajouri.
The Consolation prizes were awarded to Ms. Supriya Gupta from The Department of Hindi, University of Jammu, Shuvam Mankotia, GDC Billawar and Rahul Vipin, Department of English, University of Jammu.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare in his message complimented the winners and also applauded the participants of the poetry recitation competition and hoped that the students will come forward and exhibit their hidden talent during this pandemic and play a significant role in bringing positivity.
The event was supervised by Prof. Anupama Vohra, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee and Prof. Samridhi Arora, Co-chairperson Campus Cultural Committee. Mansi Mantoo, Media Officer(SW), Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Department of Students Welfare coordinated the event and the technical support was provided by Arif Paul.
