| BAKC holds protest dharna, seeks redressal of demands | | |

JAMMU, Aug 28: A protest dharna was organized by Border Area Kissan Committee (BAKC), Block Khour today in front of the Office Complex of Divisional Commissioner to highlight the long pending demands/problems being faced by the farmers residing near border area in Block Khour. While addressing the dharna, Ravi Singh Bhau criticized the local administration for not releasing the rent amount of the farmers, whose land has been occupied by the authority.
The farmers of the area have approached the Defence authorities for the pending rent so many times, but all in vain as no response has been given by them.
The frequent incidents of firing by Pakistan Army on the other hand is taking a heavy toll of farmers but the local authorities are not serious to address severe problems being faced by the farming community.
The Committee submitted a memorandum to Lieutenant Governor JK (UT) through Divisional Commissioner, Jammu with appeal to intervene in the matter so that the demands/problems of the farmers residing near border are resolved. |
