GMC Rajouri allotted 15 MBBS seats under EWS quota | | | RAJOURI, Oct 14: The Jammu and Kashmir government has increased MBBS seats under Economical Weaker Section (EWS) quota from existing 100 to 115 seats for the academic year 2020-21 in the new Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri. As per the reports, there are a total of 100 seats for MBBS at GMC Rajouri, with 15 seats under the EWS quota, the total number of seats have been increased to 115 now. Government Medical College, Rajouri was established in 2017 with the aim to provide quality education and deliver health care services to the people of the Peer Panchal region. The main campus of Government Medical College Rajouri campus was under construction. The first batch in the GMC Rajouri campus commenced in the year 2019, while year after the starting the batch, the Jammu and Kashmir government has increased 15 seats under the Economical Weaker Section (EWS) quota for the academic year 2020-21. In this regard a circular has been issued, which reads, “Reservation of EWS for admission in Medical Institutions under the constitution amendment (one hundred and third amendment) Act, 2019 dated last year in an increase of MBBS seats under the EWS quota for the academic year 2020-21. As per the reports, the Jammu and Kashmir government has directed to the officials to accord approval of a one-time increase in quota in the medical college of GMC Rajouri. Reports further said that the counseling authorities of the Union Territory will ensure up the filling up the MBBS seats under EWS quota as per the rules in the forthcoming academic session.
