SRINAGAR, Oct 14: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 87 percent as 816 virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. With 701 new cases the total number of positive cases reached 85,409 and with 12 fresh deaths the death toll reached 1352.
Srinagar district reported 163 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 128 cases, Baramulla district 70 cases, Budgam district 43 cases, Ganderbal district 35 cases, Bandipora district 32 cases, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts 28 cases each, Pulwama district 26 cases, Kupwara district 23 cases, Rajouri district 22 cases, Udhampur district 21 cases, Poonch district 18 cases, Samba district 13 cases, Doda district 11 cases, Shopian, Ramban and Kathua districts nine cases each, Kulgam district eight cases and Reasi district five cases.
Srinagar district reported five fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Jammu district three deaths, Udhampur two deaths and a death each in Shopian & Rajouri districts. So far 909 virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 443.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 701 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 264 from Jammu division and 437 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 85,409. Also 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; six from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 816 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 401 from Jammu Division and 415 from Kashmir Division. Out of 85,409 positive cases, 9,739 are active positive, 74,318 have recovered and 1,352 have died; 443 in Jammu division and 909 in Kashmir division.
Out of 19, 02,884 test results available, 18, 17,475 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 18,854 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 24,191 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 9,739 in isolation and 49,421 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 34,151 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 17,064 positive cases, 1,770 active positive, 14,969 recovered, 325 deaths; Budgam has 5,515 positive cases, 635 active positive, 4,790 recovered, 90 deaths; Baramulla has 5,033 positive cases, 1,461 active positive, 3,440 recovered, 132 deaths; Pulwama has 4,316 positive cases, 271 active positive, 3,971 recovered, 74 deaths; Kupwara has 3,967 positive cases, 601 active positive, 3,296 recovered, 70 deaths.
“Anantnag has 3,843 positive cases, 357 active positive, 3,416 recovered, 70 deaths; Bandipora has 3,752 positive cases, 352 active positive, 3,358 recovered, 42 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,225 positive cases, 253 active positive, 2,942 recovered, 30 deaths; Kulgam has 2,357 positive cases, 86 active positive, 2,228 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 2,111 positive cases, 111 active positive, 1,967 recovered, 33 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 15,630 positive cases, 1,248 active positive, 14,152 recovered, 230 deaths; Rajouri has 3,057 positive cases, 424 active positive, 2,588 recovered, 45 deaths; Udhampur has 2,537 positive cases, 192 active positive, 2,320 recovered, 25 deaths; Doda has 2,422 positive cases, 403 active positive, 1,979 recovered, 40 deaths; Kathua has 2,289 positive cases, 74 active positive, 2,186 recovered, 29 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,047 positive cases, 662 active positive, 1,363 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,023 positive cases, 387 active positive, 1,612 recovered, 24 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,588 positive cases, 168 active positive, 1409 recovered, 11 deaths; Ramban has 1,471 positive cases, 91 active positive, 1,369 recovered, 11 deaths and Reasi has 1,162 positive cases, 193 active positive, 963 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 85,409 positive cases in J&K, 9,274 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
