Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 25: The Department of Civil Engineering of Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu Organized Debate competition on "National Consumers Right Day". Very knowledgeable and exciting event on 24thDecember, 2020 for 3rd Semester students of all the branches Er Rajnish Magotra, HOD (Civil Engg) welcomed the guests and said that the prime aim of conducting this Event is to create awareness among the young budding engineers on importance of consumer movement and the need to make every consumer more aware of their rights and responsibilities. On this day, the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President. The enactment of this act is considered as a historic milestone in the consumer movement in the country. So, Steel Club selected a very Special theme for hosting Debate Competition on the topic "The Sustainable Consumer." During the event, the participants expressed their views on how to empower consumers and help them in protecting their rights through the various rules notified by Consumer Protection Act. Ten students participated in the event. They were from Electrical Engg, Mechanical Engg, Computer Science Engg, and Civil Engg. The Event was adjudged by Dr. A.K Srivastava, Director (YCET). This session was attended by more than 75 students of 3rd semester and faculty members. Dr. A.K Srivastava, Director (YCET), appreciated the efforts of Civil Engg department for their valued support in making the Event highly fruitful and successful. |
