Cracks in Gupkar Alliance as ‘annoyed’ Mehbooba boycotts important meeting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 25: Cracks developed in the newly formed Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) as PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is reportedly annoyed with other leaders of the conglomeration for not supporting her from the central agencies in alleged ‘terror funding’ cases. Mehbooba Mufti has ‘boycotted’ first meeting of the PAGD held on Thursday to discuss outcome of the just concluded District Development Councils (DDCs) elections. Reliable sources told Early Times that after arrest of her ‘blue-eyed boy’ Wahid Parra Mehbooba was expecting whole hearted support from other constituents of PAGD, especially National Conference and Peoples’ Conference leadership. “As Parra was arrested by NIA in alleged terror funding case with ‘convincing’ evidences, other constituents of PAGD preferred to maintain a distance from this issue”, sources said and added that Mehbooba is annoyed with this attitude of her coalition parties. Reliable sources said that constituents of PAGD were very much aware that supporting PDP in terror funding case would be proved disastrous so they preferred to maintain silence. Sources said Mehbooba was further infuriated when central agencies detained her close-confidents namely Sartaj Mandi (who is her uncle) and Peerzada Mansoor, her former political advisor but none of the senior PAGD strongly opposed this action. Reliable sources said constituents of PAGD tried to placate Mehbooba on Thursday by issuing a very mild statement against arrest of ‘political persons’. In the statement PAGD preferred not to mention names of close-aides of Mehbooba, who have arrested or detained in connection with terror funding cases. Early Times had earlier reported that with no support from other constituents Mehbooba was completely isolated in the ‘Gupkar Alliance’. |
