Jammu, Dec 25: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized an online guest lecture on the topic, “Diet as Immunity Booster in Covid Era” in which Deepakshi Vaid, Nutritionist and Dietitics, Symbiosis International University, Pune was the resource person. She stressed that while planning meal for the whole family, try to add all types of food groups in the food plate, such as carbohydrates, add whole wheat or mixed grain chapatti or hand- pounded rice. For protein and calcium add milk, curd, cheese, pulses, legumes, egg, chicken and fish. For healthy fats add olive oil, sunflower oil, almond, walnut etc. for vitamins, minerals and antioxidants add colourful fruits and vegetables and also add prebiotic foods like yogurt and probiotic milk. Amla, red peppers, yellow peppers, oranges, guava and papaya are rich in vitamin C and have anti- oxidant and immunity boosting properties. These supplements can fulfill all the nutritional requirements of the body and one must have them daily for best results. She further added that hydration is also paramount in the healthy working of the body as it increases energy and relieves fatigue, flushes out toxins, improves skin complexion and maintains digestion. Prof (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College expressed her gratitude to the resource person. The whole event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Ruchi (HOD, Sociology).
