SRINAGAR, Jan 27: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 24,234 as 77 fresh cases of the virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,931 as one fresh death came to the fore from Kashmir valley. Srinagar district reported 23 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 16 cases, Baramulla district eight cases, Ganderbal district seven cases, Pulwama and Anantnag districts six cases each, Budgam district four cases, Kulgam and Shopian districts two cases each and Kupwara, Udhampur & Kathua districts one case each. Baramulla district in the Kashmir valley reported a fresh virus related death in the past 24 hours while no death was reported from Jammu division. So far 1,212 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 719. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 77 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 18 from Jammu division and 59 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,234. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 129 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 55 from Jammu division and 74 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,234 positive cases, 1,050 are active positive, 1, 21,253 have recovered and 1,931 have died; 719 in Jammu division and 1,212 in Kashmir division. Out of 44, 61,439 test results available, 43, 37,205 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 10, 92,532 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,151 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,050 in isolation and 93,163 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 62,237 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,100 positive cases, 291 active positive, 25,355 recovered, 454 deaths; Baramulla has 8,096 positive cases, 39 active positive, 7,883 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,758 positive cases, 49 active positive, 7,592 recovered, 117 deaths; Pulwama has 5,709 positive cases, 60 active positive, 5,561 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,647 positive cases, 34 active positive, 5,518 recovered, 95 deaths. “Anantnag has 4,887 positive cases, 52 active positive, 4,751 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 4,687 positive cases, 22 active positive, 4,604 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,605 positive cases, 67 active positive, 4,492 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,692 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,609 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,566 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,497 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,925 positive cases, 235 active positive, 24,320 recovered, 370 deaths; Udhampur has 4,197 positive cases, 24 active positive, 4,116 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,867 positive cases, five active positive, 3,807 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,428 positive cases, three active positive, 3,361 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,254 positive cases, four active positive, 3,199 recovered, 51 deaths. “Samba has 2,826 positive cases, 70 active positive, 2716 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,731 positive cases, one active positive, 2,708 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,490 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,438 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,131 positive cases, two active positive, 2,108 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,638 positive cases, five active positive, 1,618 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,234 positive cases in J&K, 11,597 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
