First time after 1947 Gorkhas, Valmikis celebrate Republic Day in real sense | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 27: The Gorkhas and Valimkis- living in J&K for decades, first time celebrated Republic Day with all constitutional and human rights. After deprived of constitutional and human rights for years together, members of these two communities were liberated from worst ever slavery after historic decision taken by the Union Government by abrogating Article 35-A and Article 370. “First time we are celebrating Republic Day as respectable citizens of J&K. Historic decision of the Union Government to abrogate articles 35-A and 370 have liberated our community from slavery”, Gharu Bhatti, leader of the Valmiki community said. Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre celebrated Republic Day with Valmikis and Gorkhas of J&K at Gorkh Nagar and Valmiki Colony in two separate functions. This Republic Day is Republic in real sense for Valmikis and Gorkhas of Jammu and Kashmir With the extension of the whole Constitution of India to Jammu and Kashmir post August 5, 2019, gross violation of human rights of these two communities ended with restoration of dignity and honour. Now, they are the beneficiaries of all the constitutional provisions of the Constitution of India. Speaking on the occasion, leaders of both the communities said that they are highly enthusiastic with new Domicile Rules and other welfare laws and expressed gratitude to Narendra Modi led NDA Government for treating them at par with other residents of J&K. On this occasion JKSC organized a quiz competition among the children of both the communities and presented gifts to the participants.
