Farmers’ siege of Red Fort unfortunate, action condemnable: Raman Suri
1/27/2021 11:21:07 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 27: Condemning farmers' siege of Red Fort and attack on police personnel at Delhi during Tractor Rally, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that this incident has exposed those, who are backing this so-called directionless protest since past two months and have now dared to disrupt national event.
Raman Suri said that the agitators, by hoisting flags other than tricolour at the ramparts of the Red Fort and then resorting to violence, have established that they are working at the behest of some disgruntled elements who are out to defame our nation and grind their own axe at the cost of farmers’ protest.
The BJP leader said that those trying to convince the masses that their protest had been hijacked, already know the fact that it was hijacked right at the very onset, when farmers rejected all proposals of the democratically-elected Union Government including that of keeping the farm laws on hold for more than a year.
Questioning the violent moves of agitators, Suri said, the doors of Union Government were always open for talks but, by choosing a wrong day and using arms to put their point forward, the agitators have established that they had something else on their mind and were backed by anti-national elements. He even questioned, whether those who engaged in violence were in fact farmers or not.
Suri said, “On Republic Day, people who created a ruckus, tried to mull police and journalists with tractors, insulted the tricolor and used arms, can't actually be Indian farmers. In a democratic system, everyone has a right to put forth their view point but by acting within the limits of the Constitution of India, and not like what these people did at the Red Fort.”
Asking farmers to call off their agitation, Raman Suri said that the farm laws are in their interest and instead of getting carried away by anti-national elements, they must introspect well and read the writing on the wall.
