JKBADC seeks LG's intervention for restoration of mobile connectivity in border villages | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 3: Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JKBADC), a registered body working for the welfare of residents of border areas have appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and help in restoration of proper mobile connectivity in border villages of district Poonch. Shazad Malik, Chairman of JKBADC, native of border town Mendhar and former Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University in a letter addressed to Lieutenant Governor cited five border villages including Village Chhajla Ramkund, Hardaki, Ghani, Mankote & Balnoi falling under Block and Tehsil Mankote of district Poonch wherein the people have to move 5 to ten kilometers just to make phone calls due to no mobile connectivity there not even of government owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL). "It is so sad that even in this era of information technology, the people of these areas remained cut off from the rest of the world, moreover due to no mobile connectivity, even the online studies of the children of these villages' suffering", the JKBADC's letter further reads. Giving further details JKBADC chairman Shazad informed that these border villagers remain totally out of contact from the outer world and elderly citizens too suffer as they are also not able to communicate with their kiths and kins. He also said that Labour, employees and students from these areas who are residing out of these villages are also unable to connect back home to know about the well being of their families. |
