JK reports 65 new cases of COVID-19, three fresh deaths; positive cases reach 124659 | Active positive 669, recovered 122049, casualties 1941 | | JEHANGIR RASHID EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 3: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 65 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 24,659. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,941 as three more people died in the past 24 hours or so. Srinagar district reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district nine cases, Ganderbal district seven cases, Anantnag and Udhampur districts six cases each, Budgam district five cases, Baramulla district three cases, Pulwama and Bandipora districts two cases each and Kupwara & Poonch districts one case each. No case was reported from Kulgam, Shopian, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts. Srinagar and Anantnag districts in the Kashmir division and Kathua district in the Jammu division each reported a fresh virus related death. So far 1,219 people have died due to the virus in the Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 722 people have fallen prey to the virus up to this date. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 65 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 16 from Jammu division and 49 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,659. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 61 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 27 from Jammu division and 34 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,659 positive cases, 669 are active positive, 1, 22,049 have recovered and 1,941 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,219 in Kashmir division. Out of 46, 00,637 test results available, 44, 75,978 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 41,184 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,333 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 669 in isolation and 1, 06,188 in home surveillance. Besides, 9, 98,053 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,262 positive cases, 215 active positive, 25,589 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,124 positive cases, 41 active positive, 7,909 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,777 positive cases, 30 active positive, 7,629 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,731positive cases, 49 active positive, 5,594 recovered, 88 deaths and Kupwara has 5,663 positive cases, 27 active positive, 5,541 recovered, 95 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,913 positive cases, 52 active positive, 4,775 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,695 positive cases, 20 active positive, 4614 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,635 positive cases, 60 active positive, 4,529 recovered, 46 deaths; Kulgam has 2,697 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,618 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,573 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 39 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 24,988 positive cases, 52 active positive, 24,565 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,210 positive cases, 25 active positive, 4,128 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,868 positive cases, one active positive, 3,812 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,432 positive cases, four active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,254 positive cases, two active positive, 3,199 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,832 positive cases, 11 active positive, 2,781 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,502 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,454 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,133 positive cases, three active positive, 2,109 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,638 positive cases, one active positive, 1,622 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,659 positive cases in J&K, 11,724 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
