UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: Speculations are rife for Lal Chand to be elected as the first Chairman of the maiden District Development Council for Udhampur district on February 8. Sources informed that Chand is likely to win the election for the Chairman post easily as out of the 14 votes majority will be in his favour.
Chand is BJP candidate for the post of DDC Chairman Udhampur and he won the DDC elections from Udhampur-2 Territorial Constituency the results of which were declared on December 23 last year.
About Vice Chairman (VC) the sources named Amit Sharma, who belongs to RSSA, he won DDC election from territorial constituency Majalta and Juhi Manhas Pathania, both represents BJP.
Juhi is wife of former Ramnagar MLA RS Pathania and she won DDC elections from Territorial Constituency of Khoon.
There are 14 DDCs in each of the district of newly formed Union Territory of J&K elections for which were held at the end of last year in eight phases.
It is pertinent to mention here that DDC elections were held for the first time in the history of J&K. |
