JK Power Employees join country wide strike called by colleagues in support of many demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 3: In support of the call given by National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) and All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) the engineers & employees of Jammu & Kashmir under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Power Engineers and Employees Coordination Committee (JKPEECC) observed peaceful symbolic protest. The protesting employees are demanding scrapping of Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Standard Bidding Document for privatization of electricity, re-integrate all power utilities in states and UTs with function components of generation, transmission and distribution, timely promotion against clear vacancies at all levels by holding Departmental Promotion Committees regularly in all cadres. The protesting employees also demanded amendment and implementation of transfer scheme (SO-109), regulation of salary through treasury against annual budgetary provisions of UT, regularization of engineering cadre, assured career progression scheme in favour of engineers, regularization of PDL/Daily rated works/Need basis/Casual Labours, removal of pay anomalies of power employees & engineers at different levels. They opposed privatization of electricity in states and UTs. During the protest the protesters were carrying anti-privatization placards which read N0 Privatization No Victimization, Hammer & Tongs Opposition to Privatization and Don't Play with the Career of Power Employees. The major sit in program was held in PDD Complex Bemina. "The JKPEECC vehemently criticizes the approach of the government ventilated through the proposed 'draconian and anti-people' electricity legislation as well as privatization proposal with the clear objective of snatching away the right of access to electricity. All the Power Engineers and Employees of J&K/Ladakh have decided to resent this privatization move and urge the people to come forward to retain their Constitutional right for access to energy as a member of civilized country," said Engineer Munshi Majid Ali President, JKEEGA. |
