Nine districts of Jammu division report no fresh case of COVID-19; 43 new cases in JK

SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Jammu division continues to achieve significant progress in COVID-19 management as nine districts of the division reported no fresh case of virus in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 43 new cases of virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 24,952.
Srinagar district reported 20 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district seven cases, Pulwama district five cases, Anantnag district four cases, Ganderbal district three cases, Budgam district two cases and Baramulla & Shopian districts one case each. No case was reported from Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi, Kupwara, Bandipora and Kulgam districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 43 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), seven from Jammu division and 36 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 24,952.
Moreover, 80 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 11 from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 24,952 positive cases, 593 are active positive, 1, 22,415 have recovered and 1,944 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,222 in Kashmir division.
Out of 47, 10,630 test results available, 45, 85,678 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 76,908 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,819 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 593 in isolation and 1, 12,315 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 28,237 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,377 positive cases, 205 active positive, 25,714 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,131 positive cases, 18 active positive, 7,939 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,796 positive cases, 33 active positive, 7,645 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,761 positive cases, 54 active positive, 5,619 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,666 positive cases, 14 active positive, 5,556 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,940 positive cases, 56 active positive, 4,798 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,698 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4618 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,647 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,547 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,702 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,629 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,577 positive cases, 13 active positive, 2,524 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,029 positive cases, 41 active positive, 24,617 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,219 positive cases, 19 active positive, 4,143 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,869 positive cases, one active positive, 3,813 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,433 positive cases, five active positive, 3,364 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, three active positive, 3,200 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,832 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,785 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,507 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,462 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, four active positive, 2,110 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,645 positive cases, seven active positive, 1,623 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 24,952 positive cases in J&K, 11,798 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
