Waqf Boards: Influential men hold abolished positions | Civil society members urge LG to implement UT rules, end ‘nepotism’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Alleging that nothing has changed in functioning of Jammu & Kashmir Board for Muslim Specified Waqfs (JKBMSW), the civil society members have said that “nepotism and loot” of Board’s exchequer is going unabated, as some people are holding abolished positions. Some members of the civil society informed Early Times that the a person with an dubious track record was recently posted as an administrator of Muslim shrines in Srinagar city, while the dedicated officials/officers have been shunted out of Srinagar. “The day when Articles 370 and 35A turned irrelevant, several positions of Board were automatically abolished, but the persons who were holding these posts are still illegally sticking to the chairs”, the civil society members said. They further claimed that as per the rules of Union Territories, at top level Chief Executive Officer and Tehsildars’ post have been mentioned for the Jammu & Kashmir Board for Muslim Specified Waqfs, but the post of Secretary stands deleted. “A retired-reemployed officer illegally sitting in the Boards, is withdrawing Rs 45000 salary and also Rs 30000 are being spent on his official vehicle. As the post he is holding does not exist after J&K’s reorganization he should be removed immediately”, they said. They further said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha should initiate recovery of salary paid to him and action against the officers who have continued services of some officials and officers of the Jammu & Kashmir Board for Muslim Specified Waqfs. |
