Jammu, Feb 8: With a mission to fight hunger and malnutrition among the economically underprivileged people, a J&K based non-governmental organisation “People’s Hut Foundation’ distributes packed food to the needy and poor people through “Feed the Hungry Program”. While talking to the media about the initiative, Director and CEO of the foundation Rohit Koul said, the underprivileged in India are often obliged with unhygienic leftover food because of which they do not get sufficient nutrition and even end up falling sick. But with our “Feed the Hungry Program”, we are trying to change this by providing hygienically packed nutritious meal to them. We are a J&K based NGO but this time we have extended our support to the needy people of Himachal Pradesh, during this drive which was from 5th to 8th Feb, we distributed food packets in the areas of Dharamshala, Kangra and Palampur with the help of our volunteers in Himachal Pradesh. The program under our relief initiative is currently serving children at traffic signal, unaided schools, schools for differently abled, people in slums, night shelters, old-age homes, hospitals, and construction sites Rohit Koul said. The food served to the needy includes lentils, vegetables, fruits, rice, chapatti, and other nutritious food items. On special occasions like festivals, the food includes special treats like sweets, chocolates, and cakes. During this drive 1100 food packets were distributed and in future also it would be organising such drives in other parts neighbouring states like Punjab and Haryana as well Vikas Pandita, Director and COO of the foundation said. |
