After rise in bike lifting cases, burglars decamp with cash from temple in Kalakot

JAMMU, Mar 1: Amid rise in the number of bikes lifting cases in Kalakote, burglars today decamped with cash from a donation box of a temple from the town. In the recent past the burglars stole several bikes and cars from Kalakote, but not a single case has been solved yet. Sources said burglars broke open the donation box belonging to Temple of Baba Nar Singh Dev Sthal Kalakote during the intervening night of February 28 and March 1 and decamped with cash. However, exact cash looted from the donation box was not known. No complaint has been lodged by the Temple committee, yet as the committee is investigating the matter on its own. In the recent past several cases of thefts have been reported in Kalakote town within the limits of Municipal Committee, unfortunately not a single case has been solved by the Kalakote Police yet. “Police had not collected the CCTV footage from some locations where cases were reported”, said a member of Temple Committee, adding that People have expressed their anger as the thieves targeted a religious place and demanded immediate arrest of burglars responsible for this incident. They further said that during the last two months five bikes have been stolen, but unfortunately, Police is doing nothing. “Pulsar Bike JK-11E-8287, owned by Ajay Kumar resident of Chainpur was stolen outside his home. Another Pulsar bike JK-11C-5230 belongs Ankush Kumar was stolen from his home in Barogh area of Kalakote town, another bike JK-11C-9994 belongs to Arjun Singh was stolen from Chainpur area, 4th bike JK-11C-4357 belongs to Vishal Raina was stolen from outside the J&K Bank ATM from main market, entire incident of theft has been caught into CCTVs installed outside the Bank’’, sources said, adding that two days back another bike JK-11C-5463 was lifted by thieves from Dyala Jigni area. Unfortunately, not a single theft case has been solved by Kalakote Police. “Resentment among the locals against Police’s inaction brewing, soon a deputation from Kalakote will meet SSP Rajouri”, they said. SHO Kalakote Mohd Amin could not be reached for his comment despite repeated calls. When contacted Additional SP Nowshera Girdhari Lal, he said that Police is doing its job, soon the burglars would be beyond the bars.
