Infighting in Cong likely to intensify after Azad's visit | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 1: Infighting in the faction ridden Congress is likely to be intensified after three-day visit of former leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad along with senior prominent faces of dissident group, popularly known as G-23. This much publicized visit did not go down well in the official team of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headed by Ghulam Ahmed Mir because they were not invited in any of the functions attended by Azad. As a face saving formal welcome function was organized by PCC at party headquarters to felicitate Azad on his retirement as member of the Rajya Sabha but none of his loyalists attended the event. In the main event organized by Gandhi Global Family, whose national president is Ghulam Nabi Azad, none of the leaders who owes his/her allegiance with PCC chief Mir was invited. Reliable sources said that Mir and his loyalists were hoping that they would be invited to Santi Sammelan organized by Gandhi Global Family but they were ignored, rather humiliated. "Mir was ready to attend the function even if he was invited at the eleventh hour but organizers deliberately ignored all leaders who belong to Mir camp", sources said, adding, "Mir loyalists were annoyed that national leaders were invited from different parts of the country but official office bearers of the PCC were ignored". Similarly all loyalists of Azad boycotted the official function in which he (Azad) was felicitated by office bearers of the party. For the last nearly six months Azad loyalists have been boycotting all official functions. |
