Jammu, Mar 8: Various Political Social and non political besides educational institutions today hosted separate functions to mark the International Women's Day and to deliberate upon the issues of the fairer sex. The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)--one of the oldest apex body of the country has honored Women achievers of Jammu and Kashmir with ‘ASSOCHAM Northern Power: J&K Women Achievers-2021’ for their excellence in their professional fields, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The event was organized by ASSOCHAM J&K Council in partnership with Batra Group and Packaging Design Industries at Hotel Radisson Blu Jammu. On the eve of International Women’s Day Sushil Sharma Zonal Education officer Bhalwal organized a camp of all the Headmasters , pay centre incharges , female teachers and cooks cum helapers at BRC Keran to highlight the importance and theme of International Women Day. The event was attended by larege number of Women . Sushila Sharma on the occasion discussed the role of Women in society and Women’ rights. Jammu & Kashmir Legal service Authority District Legal services Authority Jammu, in collaboration with KV Sangathan Jammu Region celebrated International Women's Day 2021 in the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya GC CRPF Bantalab Jammu with great zeal and gusto. DGP Prisons, V. K.Singh, was the Chief Guest on the occasion whereas Dr D. Manjunath Deputy Commissioner, KVS Jammu Region was the Guest of honour at the event. Mrs Vijaya Singh was the Special Invitee. Sanjeev Gupta, Principal (District and Session) Judge and chairman, DLSA Jammu, Bala Jyoti, HJS( D&L Judge) Judicial Member, J&K Special Tribunal and Rajinder Prasad, Deputy Inspector General, GC CRPF Bantalab were the special guests. The chief organizers of the programme were Suraj Prasad, Principal Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Naushad Ahmed Khan, D&S Judge, Secretary DLSA Jammu The Chief Guest along with other dignitaries commenced the programme by lighting the lamp amidst the chanting of shlokas. Govt. M.A.M College, Jammu celebrated International Woman’s Day 2021 on 08 March 2021. The function was organized by Women Development Cell in collaboration with the NSS Wing of the college on the theme “Choose the Challenge”. The Resource Person for today’s occasion were Senior Advocate Ms. Monika Kholi, JK High Court, Ms. Subah Mehta, KAS, GM, Directorate of Industries and Ms. Snober Jamil, KAS, BDO, Jammu. Senior Advocate Ms. Monika Kohli spoke on Rights of Women and Judiciary related matters. GM, Directorate of Industries, Ms. Shubha Mehta awared the students on significance of skill courses and early job placements. School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu organized Online Essay Writing Competition to celebrate International Women’s Day under the patronship of Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Bhupinder Singh. The topic of the essay competition was “Most Inspirational Female Fictional Character in Literature.” The event was coordinated under the supervision of Head Department of English, Dr. Twinkle Suri and Head Department of Linguistics and Literature, Dr. Reena Salaria. The jury members for adjucation of the essays included Dr. Geetanjali Multani, H.O.D. Department of English, GDC Paloura and Dr. Ritu Magotra, H.O.D. Department of English, GCW Parade. GDC Bishnah organizes a poster making competition to celebrate international Women’s day on 8th of March 2021 where the students from all Semesters participated. The Vishesh Sharma of Sem-I secured Ist position, Anmol Sharma from sem-IIIrd Secured second position and and Mukti Sharma of semester-I Secured IIIrd position respectively. Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, principal of the college applauded the efforts of the participants and congratulated the women development committee and the staff members to conduct this programme in connection to International Women’s Day. To commemorate the International Women’s Day, Govt. Degree College, Chenani under the tagline ‘The World of Inclusion’ organized a Mega Webinar in association with the Army Institute of Education, Greater NOIDA, U.P, Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions, Jammu and the NGO, Global Helping Hands on 8th march 2021 attoday . Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal Govt. Degree College, Chenani read the Welcome address and opined that while we Indians regardless of our social, religious, economic, political and geographical differences have a history of unification, however, we have been responsible for the preservation, maintenance and continuance of a social structure based on caste and class, and acceptance of injustice, discrimination, exploitation and abuse as part of one’s karma or fate since ages. International Women’s Day was celebrated by Govt. Degree College Darhal in which a symposium on the theme “Gender Equality and Economic Development” Speaking on the occasion Principal of the College Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, threw light on the importance of the day. He said that the need of the hour is to give equal opportunity to women in all the spheres of life as Gender equality will lead to overall development of a country. He said that in all the countries of the world women are being neglected and even low wages are given to them as compared with men. He motivated the girl students of the college to grab all the opportunities and also to make maximum use of internet facility for acquiring knowledge. Women study centre of Government Degree College Kathua, organised one day workshop on International Women Day.The workshop was attended by a huge gathering of college students. Main resource person of this event was Sub judge, Arti Mohan, Secretary District legal Services, Kathua. Dr Rachna, Director, Women study centre, GDC Kathua welcomed the Principal GDC Kathua, main resource person for sparing their valuable time for this workshop with the students and also encouraging students to take part in this informative programs. |
