| Nitish calls for protection of women rights on Intl Women's Day | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 8: Women have a pivotal role in progress and prosperity of society and are contributing their bit in every sphere of life.
This was stated by Nitish Mahajan, State Executive Member of BJP J&K unit in a statement issued today on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Mahajan highlighted the importance of women in making the nation self-reliant and free from all social evils. He said that they have been rendering an important role in education, polity and economics since times immemorial and their responsibility has further increased in the present scenario.
Highlighting the invaluable role of legendary women like Rani of Jhansi, Indra Nooyi, Kalpana Chawla, Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Pratibha Patil etc in the progress of our nation, Mahajan said that women in India enjoy equal status with men in all aspects of life and encouraged the women of Ladakh to also join politics.
Mahajan said that a series of women centric schemes initiated by the PM Modi led government at the Centre and in the past few years have enabled the womenfolk to live their dreams.
The senior BJP leader emphasized for effective implementation of the numerous State and Central Government Schemes which have the specific objective of promoting women's holistic development. He appealed to the people to join global efforts so as to ensure a world free of discrimination against women and also called them to protect girls against violence, child marriage and other social evils. |
