Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 8: District Development Council member Geetu Aulakh today paid a surprise visit to Primary Health Centre , Sohanjna and took the stock of the issues of the hospital staff and allied problems being witnessed by the people in patient care .
While talking to the Block Medical Officer Mahinder Pal Sharma, Geetu Aulakh came across many health related issues required to be addressed in the centre besides the urgent need of the staff in the hospital.
She was made aware that since basic minimum infrastructure is present in the hospital, but the specialists to handle the medical mechanism were missing which deprived the patients of many facilities like ultra sound, ECG and other tests.
It was also found that since as per the requisite number of staff needed to run a Primary Health Centre, only a gynecologist was taking care of the centre and doctors like physicians, surgeons and pediatricians' posts were left empty. It was due to the reason that since new PHCs has come up in recent past which has forced administration for a hurried attachment of doctors.
Besides also, Geetu Aulakh was informed that hospital was witnessing many problems like non functional drainage system within the premises that usually left doctors, staff and patients in mess during rainy seasons. Also the absence of specialists in the hospital added woes to patients' requirement of care where they have to shift to Jammu or other Primary centre during emergency. The DDC member Geetu Aulakh also gave a patient hearing to the problems of the patients as well as the staff members in the hospital and assured that she would take up the issue of upgradation of PHC Sohanjana with Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education.
Geetu Aulakh expressed satisfaction over the arrangements done to vaccinate people against COVID 19 and appealed people to take up the vaccination to avoid the danger of Corona Virus.
The DDC member was accompanied by Block Development Chairman Madan Lal, sarpanch Khandwal Sonam Aulakh, Sarpanch Sohanjana Balbir Singh and other prominent citizens including Ajay Badyal, Akhil and Sehdev.
