Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 9: The Citizens' Forum For Public Concerns ( CFPC ) has hailed JMC decision for naming of a chowk after a Dogra martyr, Maj Somnath Sharma. The Forum expressed its deep gratitude to the Mayor of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta & Jammu Municipal Commission for naming a chowk in City after the first receipient of India's highest gallantry award, Param Vir Chakra, Maj Somnath Sharma. The CFPC had taken up this issue of honouring Dogra martyrs who had laid down their lives in defence of India and submitted a petition signed by 122 prominent citizens of Jammu to the Mayor of Jammu. The signitories included former Chief Justices of High Courts, former High Court Judges, former Chief Secretaries, former DGPs and many retired senior bureaucrats, army veterans, professionals, industrialists & businessmen. In a statement, the Convenor of the CFPC, K B Jandial expressed the hope a life size statue of Maj Somnath Sharma would also be erected at the chowk named after him.
