RAJOURI, Mar 9: Despite spending crores of rupees in the construction of Manpur Bajnawa Water Supply Scheme, it has been lying defunct depriving the local residents of the benefits of drinking water supply in their areas. Moreover, new motors installed for the Water Supply Scheme were allegedly replaced with old one and later motors were damaged.
Sources told Early Times that Manpur Bajnawa Water Supply Scheme was sanctioned for an amount of Rs 3.5 crores and many villages were to be linked with this scheme to provide water supply to local residents but despite creating infrastructure for the WSS, it could not function due to unknown reasons.
The residents of Bareri alleged that a huge embezzlement in funds has been made by the department in the construction of this scheme, which has been lying defunct and it has been observed that many equipment of this water scheme were stolen. “Many RTIs were filed with the department seeking information about the expenditure on the scheme but we didn’t receive any reply till date,” the residents alleged.
They further said that under this scheme Parkulation Well, Sump Tank, Pump Room, Eclectic Sub Station, four GSR were to be constructed but nothing like this happened but the department had completed the scheme on papers only. The motors, which were installed in the Pump Room, got damaged and it has come to their knowledge that old motors were installed and new motors were sent to Jammu, they alleged.
Besides, there are two other water supply schemes including Dabbar to Deing Seri Sayal and Kalal Gura, which have also not been completed even after a lapse of 5-6 years. Although part payments have been released in these schemes but not work has been done to complete them.
Sarpanch Deing Kalal Ramesh Choudhary alleged embezzlement in these schemes by the department and demanded inquiry.
Meanwhile, when Junior Engineer Rajeev Ghai contacted, he said that the motor was damaged due to water which entered in it and as far as the funds are concerned, he said that only Rs 1.50 cr were spent on the scheme till date.
