SRINAGAR, Mar 9: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 77 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 27,191. The death toll reached 1,965 with two deaths taking place in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 36 fresh cases of COVID-19 including 15 travelers followed by Jammu district 13 cases, Baramulla district 10 cases, Budgam district nine cases, Anantnag district four cases, Kathua district two cases and a case each in Pulwama, Rajouri & Doda districts. No case was reported from Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Shopian, Udhampur, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts. A death each was reported from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 77 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 17 from Jammu division and 60 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 27,191. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 87 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 18 from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 27,191 positive cases, 859 are active positive, 1, 24,367 have recovered and 1,965 have died; 729 in Jammu division and 1,236 in Kashmir division.
Out of 54, 36,662 test results available, 53, 09,471 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 62,665 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 31,836 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 859 in isolation and 1, 17,550 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 10,455 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,359 positive cases, 395 active positive, 26,502 recovered, 462 deaths; Baramulla has 8,343 positive cases, 83 active positive, 8,085 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,940 positive cases, 53 active positive, 7,767 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,893 positive cases, 41 active positive, 5,761 recovered, 91 deaths; Kupwara has 5,701 positive cases, 13 active positive, 5,591 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,066 positive cases, 36 active positive, 4,942 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 4,722 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4647 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,680 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,619 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,743 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,673 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,614 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,337 positive cases, 141 active positive, 24,819 recovered, 377 deaths; Udhampur has 4,319 positive cases, six active positive, 4,256 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,877 positive cases, one active positive, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,439 positive cases, one active positive, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,268 positive cases, eight active positive, 3,207 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, one active positive, 2,715 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,527 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,649 positive cases, three active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 27,191 positive cases in J&K, 12,538 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
