Jammu, Mar 15: Government Degree College Ramgarh commemorated World Consumer Rights Day today. World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated every year on March 15. The day is observed to raise awareness about consumer’s rights and needs so as to enable the consumer to fight against social injustices. The World Consumer Rights Day 2021 theme is to “Tackling Plastic Pollution”. Government Degree College Ramgarh organized Poster making Competition in the College premises on the said theme in which around 10 students participated. Riya Rani secured the first position, Anuj Pangotra bagged the second Prize and. Avinash Kour clinched the third prize. Aditi Khajuria, Seema Sharma and Risha Kumari acted as the judges in the event. Prizes were given to first three winners and certificates were distributed among the participants for their encouragement. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College, said that Plastic Pollution is one of the most pressing issues facing our planet. Consumer Awareness of the plastic crisis is growing around the world. Now is a critical time in highlighting, addressing, and tackling plastic pollution as the global COVID-19 pandemic adds to the rise of single use plastics including face masks, gloves and food packaging. She congratulated the whole organizing team for their efforts in organizing the event.
