SRINAGAR, Mar 15: The sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) assisted by security forces on Monday conducted raids at a house and shopping complex in connection with narco militancy case in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, official sources said.
They told that security forces and state police personnel were deployed in strength on Monday morning at Wangipora Sumbal in Bandipora before a team of NIA officials raided the house of Showkat Ahmad Parray. Team was also accompanied by concerned revenue officials, including Tehsildar and Patwari when the raid was conducted.
After more than three hours, NIA team later conducted raids at a shopping complex owned by Parray, they said.
The NIA team reportedly took some documents with them from the house of Parray, who is under the detention of the investigation agency in connection with Handwara narco militancy case. About 30 kg of heroin and cash worth lakhs of rupees was recovered by police in Handwara two years ago.
NIA has arrested over a dozen persons, mostly cross-Line of Control (LoC) traders in connection with narco militancy cases.
However, the cross-LoC trade has been suspended in April 2019 by the Union Home Ministry (UHM) after it was alleged that the trade was being used for narco militancy.
The cross-LoC trade through Salamabad Uri was resumed in October, 2008 since 1947 after both India and Pakistan agreed to allow traders from both sides of the border to do business of local products. |
