SRINAGAR, Mar 16: The COVID-19 death toll in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1,976 as two more people died today; the number of positive cases reached 1, 27,831 following 97 fresh cases.
Srinagar district reported 53 new cases of Corona Virus including 10 travelers followed by Jammu district 15 cases, Baramulla district eight cases, Pulwama district six cases, Budgam district five cases, Bandipora district three cases, Poonch district two cases and a case each in Kupwara, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Udhampur & Reasi districts. Jammu and Anantnag districts each reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 97 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 19 from Jammu division and 78 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 27,831. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one from Jammu division & one from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 59 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including two from Jammu division and 57 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 27,831 positive cases, 973 are active positive, 1, 24,882 have recovered and 1,976 have died; 731 in Jammu division and 1,245 in Kashmir division.
Out of 56, 06,242 test results available, 54, 78,411 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 13, 99,729 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 29,839 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 973 in isolation and 1, 20,604 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 46,337 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,673 positive cases, 460 active positive, 26,749 recovered, 464 deaths; Baramulla has 8,407 positive cases, 90 active positive, 8,139 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 7,985 positive cases, 61 active positive, 7,804 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,914 positive cases, 31 active positive, 5,791 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,724 positive cases, 23 active positive, 5,604 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,087 positive cases, 20 active positive, 4,976 recovered, 91 deaths; Bandipora has 4,730 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,654 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,689 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,624 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,753 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,684 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,622 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,566 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,422 positive cases, 180 active positive, 24,864 recovered, 378 deaths; Udhampur has 4,325 positive cases, seven active positive, 4,261 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,879 positive cases, two active positive, 3,822 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,440 positive cases, two active positive, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,271 positive cases, four active positive, 3,214 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,843 positive cases, four active positive, 2,798 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, one active positive, 2,716 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,535 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,658 positive cases, 10 active positive, 1,632 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 27,831 positive cases, 12,680 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
