Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report
Poonch, Mar 16: The Municipal Council Poonch has allegedly adopted selective policy for demolition of illegal structures and moreover the non-cooperation among Revenue, Irrigation and Municipality has further aggravated the issue. Sources told Early Times that there are many areas where encroachment has been made by the businessmen as well as the locals under municipal limits but the concerned authority has taken action only in selective places whereas the other places have not been touched. At many places, the shopkeepers have raised sheds in front of their shops beyond permitted limits thus causing inconvenience to people passing through the roads but the department take shows lackadaisical attitude in taking action against violators. The MC Poonch has failed to recover the amount from the people, who got shops in auctions, which caused financial loss to the government. Similarly, many violations of encroachment have been reported belonging to other departments including Revenue and Irrigation Departments and there is no coordination found in resolution of the issues, said locals. Although several committees are set up by the local administration to sort various issues in the municipal limits, these committees submit hardly any reports. Executive Officer MC Poonch, when contacted said that action against violators will be taken.
