ROB J&K organizes webinar on ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav’

JAMMU, Apr 21: Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) J&K, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organized a webinar today on “Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav” with a special focus on the contribution of freedom fighters, role of women, contribution of Mahatma Gandhi and revolt of 1857 during the freedom struggle of India against the mighty British colonial rule.
In her keynote address, Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) J&K and PIB Jammu highlighted the role of freedom fighters, moderates and revolutionaries during the freedom struggle of India and said that the biggest aim of conducting these webinars is to spread information about the freedom movement of India. The contribution of everyone is important during the freedom movement be that the farmers, tribals, industrialists, students, women etc and it’s a duty to inform about them to the common masses so that they would be able to understand that this freedom is achieved after a great struggle, she added. SP Verma, President Gandhi Global Family, J&K while speaking on the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle of India said that his contribution during the freedom struggle of India is immense, be that his Satyagrahas during Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, Champaran Satyagraha, Kheda Satyagraha. Our nation owes a debt to him for this contribution which can never be repaid, he added. Prof Shalini Rana, Head Department of English, Government College of Education, Jammu while throwing light on the role and impact of women freedom fighters in Indian freedom struggle, said that the contribution of women during the freedom struggle cannot be forgotten. In his address on the role and impact of Moderates and Extremists during the freedom struggle, Manmohan Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Degree College Kathua and Sheikh Mudasir Amin, Media and Communication Officer, PIB, Jammu also spoke on the occasion. Besides students and officials of various departments, Shahid Mohammad Lone, FPO Anantnag, Khursheed Yousuf, FPO Udhampur were also present in the webinar. The webinar was moderated by Vijay Matoo, in charge Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua.
