Influential businessman constructs brick kiln without seeking permission in South Kashmir | | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, Apr 21: At a time when the authorities have tightened their nose around the brick kiln owners for selling the bricks at exorbitant rates, the revenue officials in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have allegedly allowed an Influential businessman to set up a brick kiln in the area. Highly placed sources told Early Times that Influential businessman has managed to setup the business unit without seeking permission from the district administration at Shelipora Achabal “He started the construction of a brick kiln chimney on 1st of this month and since then the work is going on,” claimed sources, adding the businessman is already running a unit in the same area. They said that few revenue officials visited the site but didn’t take any action nor directed the businessman to stop its construction. “This businessman is enjoying the support of a political party because of which administration isn’t taking action,” an Achabal resident alleged. An ordinary citizen, who wishes to enter into brick kiln business, is asked to get the No Objection Certificates from at least ten (10) departments including Pollution Control Board but powerful and influential start their business units without fulfilling the formalities. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla said that he has taken cognizance of the matter and action as warranted under will be taken. Meanwhile ET also learnt that few other ‘unregistered’ brick kiln units have also resumed their business. “Last year Anantnag administration sealed three brick kilns and said that they were functioning without registration and declared them unregistered but surprisingly this year they have resumed business,” they said. |
