Warning Signal: Jammu district tops in Corona death tally

Jammu, May 8: The death toll in Jammu district crossed all other 19 districts of J&K due to poor infrastructure in the available health institutes. On May 1, the total COVID deaths in the Jammu district were 496 which jumped to 636 within eight days.
Doctors of Jammu districts are fighting on two fronts. On the one hand, they are fighting with the deadly virus while on the other hand, they are battling with outdated infrastructure provided to them to save patients from pandemic.
During the last eight days of May, 140 Corona deaths have been reported from the Jammu district with 925 positive cases. On May 1 total positive cases in the Jammu district were 6201 active positive cases which have increased to 7126 on May 8. During the first eight days of May, the Jammu district is recording 17 deaths per day.
Meanwhile, Congress expressed satisfaction over the stepped up efforts of the Lt Governor and his administration to come up to the challenge of COVID-02, after several laxities and initial lapses at various levels, Congress demanded that the cause of more percentage of casualties as compared to the number of infections, in the Jammu region, needed to be ascertained to minimize the loss of lives.
Chief spokesman of Congress, Ravinder Sharma said that the senior leaders of the party were in touch with each other taking feedback about the ground situation in different parts while the Covid Committee constituted by the party president G A Mir as per directions of AICC, is closely monitoring the situation and regularly in touch.
Though it is a matter of satisfaction that the Lt Governor personally visited the Jammu hospitals after the visuals of the suffering patients were shared by the media persons and the people with oxygen cylinders on their noses, while the hospital administration and health authorities remained in denial mode and the contrary the picture was depicted in public through about the availability of beds and oxygen.
