SRINAGAR, May 8: There seems to be no let up in Corona Virus deaths in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 60 more people died in the past 24 hours following which the death toll reached 2,672. Total number of the positive cases reached 2, 11,742 following 4,788 fresh cases. Jammu district reported 23 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Budgam district six deaths, Srinagar and Rajouri districts five deaths each, Ramban district four deaths, Kathua, Udhampur and Pulwama districts three deaths each and Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Doda, Kupwara, Anantnag, Bandipora & Kulgam districts one death each. Srinagar district reported 853 new cases of virus followed by Jammu district 634 cases, Anantnag district 573 cases, Baramulla district 470 cases, Budgam district 444 cases, Pulwama district 325 cases, Rajouri district 247 cases, Kulgam district 237 cases, Udhampur district 181 cases, Kathua district 169 cases, Kupwara district 131 cases, Shopian district 88 cases, Bandipora district 83 cases, Poonch district 82 cases, Samba district 66 cases, Ramban district 63 cases, Ganderbal district 55 cases, Reasi district 42 cases, Kishtwar district 23 cases and Doda district 22 cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,788 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,529 from Jammu division and 3,259 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 11,742. Also 60 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 42 from Jammu division and 18 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,500 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 910 from Jammu division and 1,590 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 11,742 positive cases, 46,535 are active positive, 1, 62,535 have recovered and 2,672 have died; 1,139 in Jammu division and 1,533 in Kashmir division. Out of 76, 04,448 test results available, 73, 92,706 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 96,171 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 86,787 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 46,535 in isolation and 1, 26,190 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 33,987 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 52,214 positive cases, 10,951 active positive, 40,661 recovered, 602 deaths; Baramulla has 15,950 positive cases, 3,980 active positive, 11,759 recovered, 211 deaths; Budgam has 13,411positive cases, 3,154 active positive, 10,115 recovered, 142 deaths; Anantnag has 9,779 positive cases, 3,441 active positive, 6,219 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 8,844 positive cases, 2,212 active positive, 6,514 recovered, 118 deaths. “Kupwara has 8,072 positive cases, 1,478 active positive, 6,488 recovered, 106 deaths; Bandipora has 6,156 positive cases, 759 active positive, 5,330 recovered, 67 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,144 positive cases, 874 active positive, 5,217 recovered, 53 deaths; Kulgam has 6,131 positive cases, 2,642 active positive, 3,418 recovered, 71 deaths and Shopian has 3,779 positive cases, 896 active positive, 2,839 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 39,279 positive cases, 7,126 active positive, 31,517 recovered, 636 deaths; Udhampur has 7,363 positive cases, 1,376 active positive, 5,913 recovered, 74 deaths; Rajouri has 6,405 positive cases, 2,309 active positive, 4,006 recovered, 90 deaths; Kathua has 5,771 positive cases, 1,224 active positive, 4,474 recovered, 73 deaths; Samba has 4,594 positive cases, 1,520 active positive, 3,006 recovered, 68 deaths. “Doda has 4,102 positive cases, 423 active positive, 3,608 recovered, 71 deaths; Reasi has 3,880 positive cases, 551 active positive, 3,309 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,560 positive cases, 821 active positive, 2,692 recovered, 47 deaths; Kishtwar has 3,155 positive cases, 218 active positive, 2,912 recovered, 25 deaths and Ramban has 3,153 positive cases, 580 active positive, 2,538 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 11,742 positive cases, 20,337 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
