Jammu, May 8: While as National Conference president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday recommended the release of Rs 1.4 crore from his MPLADS fund towards improving the COVID care facilities in certain hospitals of Kashmir, residents of Jammu province is desperately looking towards their MPs. After Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s initiatives, it is time for MPs of Jammu to contribute from their Constituency Development Fund to upgrade health infrastructure in Jammu province at this crucial time. During the first wave of Coronavirus, former Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister, Jitendra Singh, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hasnain Masoodi, and Mohammad Akbar Lone had release Rs one crore each from MPLAD to fight COVID-19. This time situation is worse than the first wave so it is high-time for MPs from Jammu to step up efforts to improve health infrastructure in this part of the Union Territory. Dr. Farooq Abdullah wrote a letter to Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad, in which he said that the funds be utilized for improving the COVID care facilities in the hospitals falling under the jurisdiction of his parliamentary constituency, which is spread over Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts. “In view of the fact that COVID-19 is spreading at an alarming rate in Kashmir, I think it is most appropriate to use the MPLADS Funds released by the Government of India recently in my favour mainly towards improving the COVID care facilities in the hospitals falling under the jurisdiction of my parliamentary constituency,” he said. Abdullah recommended the release of Rs 50 lakh in favour of Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, Rs 30 lakh in favour of Government Chest Diseases Hospital, Srinagar, Rs 30 lakh in favour of Government SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, and Rs 30 lakh in favour of SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Srinagar. |
