Jammu & Kashmir Young Leaders Association welcomes Mehta’s appointment | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 31: President, Jammu and Kashmir Young Leaders Association, Maheshwar Vishwakarma welcomed the newly incumbent Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, Arun Kumar Mehta on behalf of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Mehta, an IAS officer of 1988 Batch, has worked in various capacities in the UT of J&K and is well known for his honesty, hard work and efficiency. Being an officer of J&K cadre, Mehta is well aware of the topography, culture, resources, prevailing situation and the problems faced by the people of J&K and is expected to respect the sentiments of the public and a new era of development and prosperity will start in J&K once again under his leadership. The public of J&K welcomes this step of Government to appoint Chief Secretary from amongst its own cadre officer as the past experience of parachuting of Chief Secretary from the other states who doesn’t have any knowledge of Jammu & Kashmir at all has failed miserably. Outgoing Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subramanyan was known for his high headedness and implementing harsh decision in the state. He had disrupted the political process of Jammu & Kashmir and had remained very harsh in keeping the public sentiments and voices unheard for a long. Even the public representatives were kept mute by his dictator policies thereby losing the trust of public. It was during BVRs tenure that the Bureaucracy of J&K got divided into groups and lobby culture started, where only few officers were raised to higher rank and postings, leaving behind the hard working and potent officer’s aside. He has created a divide among the officers, and ruled by implementing the policy of divide and rule in the state. The corruption which has reached to its peak in the last 3 years is expected to fall flat with the coming of an honest and public friendly officer. Mehta’s reputation clearly states that he will remain successful in tackling the issue pertaining to unemployment, corruption, favouritism, prevailing in the system. People have posed lots of hope and faith, that under his tenure the political process shall again start in Jammu & Kashmir thereby giving people a choice to elect a representative amongst themselves who can think in their best interest. |
